Popping by just to reassure the internets that I have, in fact, returned from our glorious, glorious holiday- about which much more later- but I have yet to conquer the hideous laundry/mail/general life backlog mountain. Every single item of clothing we wore on our trip emerged from the bag all sweaty, salty and in Botany's case, covered in suspect chocolate dribbles and oobleck. And while we had a wonderfully relaxing time, more sleep didn't feature much. The bed in our room was the brand featured in monasteries- rock hard and more an instrument of further torture than a haven of peace. Worse, the flight back left the airport at 2.30am local time, arriving 5am UK time and I can honestly say I have never had a more uncomfortable trip, shifting like an irritable sleepless hippo in my sardine sized seat while Botany sprawled snoring across the middle. I suppose I'm grateful they let me on the plane at all, since upon checking in there was a confused exchange with the desk agent-who spoke little English but was apparently insisting on the medical certificate that the airline had previously said I don't need until 28 weeks. Having passed that hurdle ("doctor?" "NO. 26, not 28"), I then had to go through it all again upon boarding, at which point I confess I became a bit...shrill.
Anyway, it's good to be home- if not for the resumption of crap weather and flavourless tomatoes- then for the chance to begin nesting in earnest. More soon....
Welcome back!
